About Me
TRAVEL. DISCOVER. RELAX
Who Am I?
Journalist and media trainer with over 30 years in the trenches. I am also a biographer, book reviewer, peace-building and gender-based -violence consultant.
I have a passion for photography, travelling, singing, fellowshipping with brethren, gardening, hiking in the forest and hills; and telling and sharing historical and life stories with all and sundry.
What is Destination SafariLogue about?
The idea was inspired by my collection of books, articles and magazines in my library, aka Newseum and my huge collection of photographs, thanks to my grandparents who preserved a 1926 photo of my great grandfather who was promoted to Police Sergeant in 1926, as the fourth local to the coveted post. My maternal grandfather also loved photos and took one in a studio in 1937, with my grandma and mother as a toddler.
The travel stories are about my 21 years as a reporter, Kisumu Bureau Chief and Senior Parliamentary Reporter at Nation Media Group and another 11 years with African Woman and Child (AWC) Feature Service.
Other than the normal travel stories, my blog will seek to add value to the local and foreign travel stories by featuring photos of the destinations, experiences, personalities there, history, culture, politics and relevance to current local and international events.
So far, I have 10 foreign destinations lined up, 10 others in Africa and 30 local ones which will include State House Nairobi, Corridor of Injustice (High Court), Nairobi Baptist Church, AWC and Destination Nation Centre. The project is for six months with the release of two travel stories and a book review every week. The climax will be a merger of all the above and coming up with an e-Book.
I hope you will enjoy the read, the sense of humour and the opportunity to promote your reading
culture.
Please: “Sit back, relax and enjoy”
